Short-Term Housing Project
In Canberra, a pressing need 40 years ago inspired an innovative solution: single-bedroom accommodation units were constructed within days on a disused drive-in theatre site. Unlike typical “dongas,” these units were designed to be recyclable but proved so durable and well-suited that they’ve endured as tourist accommodations rather than being recycled.
Built in Perisher Valley, the CSIRO Ski Lodge stands as a testament to resilience and durability. It consistently meets the needs of club members in some of Australia’s harshest conditions.
